Is there a step of faith you know you should take right now? When you hear the phrase “step out in faith” does any one thing immediately come to mind?
I’ve been struggling with faith in one particular area of my life for years. I struggle because obedience in this area definitely requires more of a leap of faith than a step. God keeps nudging me toward trust and obedience, but He doesn’t force the issue. He’s not pulling the rug out from under me, but neither is it comfortable to cling to fear and resist doing what I know in my heart I should. Yet I do live out of that place of fear, and days turn into years despite how uncomfortable the situation is.
Does that sound familiar? Has it been easier to live in fear, however uncomfortable, than to trust God with a particular area of your life?
I’m spending time considering the roles faith and fear play in my life and why fear so often wins out over faith. I’m wondering how often hesitating to take a step of faith holds me back from the life I dream of. And are there little choices I can make each day that will help me overcome fear with faith?
Are you facing a similar struggle? What roles do fear and faith play in your everyday life? Do you feel like fear is holding you back or has faith propelled you into something greater than you ever imagined possible? (If so, do you have advice for those of us who are struggling to put faith over fear?)
I’d love to hear from you as I’m contemplating fear and faith.
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” – James 1:6 NKJV
